Thomas Brian was born in 1792 in Muston, on the East Yorkshire coast north of Bridlington. [1]
In 1824 when Thomas was almost 32, he married Elizabeth Acklam in the village of Beeford south of Bridlington in the plain of Holderness: They seem to have spent the next twenty years on a farm nearby in Lissett, but there were no children. [2]
In 1841 Thomas & Elizabeth Brian are at Lissett Tithe, still in the Beeford parish but the Lissett hamlet: Could this have been an Acklam property? The three youngsters with them aged 12-16 are all employees on the farm. [3]
In 1851 Thomas and Elizabeth Brian were in Bridlington. Thomas is described as "Landed Proprietor " so evidently his rents from land are enough that he had no need to sell land when he retired. Oddly, although all the families in this section of Quay Road appear prosperous, none have servants living in. [4] In 1861 they seem to be at the same address, and nothing has changed except that they are 10 years older , and he is now "Retired Farmer". In 1871 Thomas is dead, Elizabeth age 70 has a maid, Mary Webster, also born Beeford and aged 72 -two years older than herself.
Thomas Brian died in Bridlington in 1864: He was about 72 years old. [5]
