William Edward Bricknell, son of Thomas Bricknell and Frances Phoebe Hall, ^[1][2] was born in about July 1863 in Hawkley, Hampshire. ^[1][3] He was baptised on 26 July 1863 in Priors Dean, Hampshire. ^[2]

On 2 April 1871 in Compton, Sussex, with his parents Thomas Bricknell and Frances Phoebe Bricknell and his siblings Phoebe Emma Bricknell aged 6, Louisa Bricknell aged 4, Edwin Henry Bricknell aged 2 and Arthur John Bricknell aged 0. ^[1]
