Harold Bride is the youngest son of Arthur Bride and Mary Ann Lowe. In June 1911 Harold finished his training with the Marconi Company and was on his way to being a Radio Officer. Harold started his first assignment July 1911 on the Haverford and later worked on the Beaverford, the LaFrance, the Lusitania, and the Anselm has their wireless operator.[1]

With less than a year experience Harold was assigned to the Titanic with "Jack" John Phillips both joined the Titanic in Belfast and signed articles under the Victualling Department at Southampton on 9th April,1912. Harold's monthly wages were set at wages of £2 2s 6d. [2]

During the Titanic's sinking Harold Bride states that he prevented a Stoker from taking Jack Phillips Life Preserver. Captain Smith released the Radio Department but they choose to stay sending distress messages until water was entering the Wireless Room. On the Boat Deck Harold helped with getting the last collapsible boat ready. Harold was said to have left the Titanic without his shoes. On Harold's rescue by the Carpathia both feet were injured one due to frostbite and the other was smashed.

In the years after the Titanic Harold returned to the sea in 1913 for a short time then worked ashore first as a Pharmacist then was a Pharmaceutical Salesman.
