word of mouth. No adoption papers found. The court house in Fluvanna County, VA burned down?
first hand experience & stories
Marriage was in newspaper for John J Bridgeman and Agnes Henry/Newspapers.com - The Philadelphia Inquirer - 7 Dec 1909 - Pg 3
His mother Agnes told him she was being put in hospital and couldn't take care of him anymore. He was put up for adoption and ended up in Fluvanna county, Virginia. He was adopted by George Seay and Elizabeth McFarland but there were no records in their estate or will. Also the court house burned down so I have been told and have not been able to find any records. His mother also told him that he was born in Baltimore Maryland, but he only shows on the . He did not know how old he really was and ended up telling the SS that he was born in Dec 1920. He was reconnected with Agnes before he went to WW II and lived near her when he returned from the war. When she died I do not remember if he was listed on the will. After he died, I met one of his cousins near where I live and was told that Agnes and John Bridgeman had a baby but it died and my dad was not her son. I don't believe it.
