In April, 1905, Guy and his family moved from Barlow Village in the home of his father-in-law, Andrew F. Ellis. In April of 1909, his work required them to move to New Bedford.

In 1910, Ernest and Annie rented their home at 310 Orchard St. in New Bedford, Massachusetts, where he was a house painter. Living with him was their only child, Dorothy. Also living there were two boarders, 22-year-old George and 18-year-old Vela M. Thomas. By 1915, he was living at 70 Dartmouth.

In 1918, he registered for the World War I Draft. He was a self-employed painter and paper hanger, and lived at 116 Rounds, Bedford. He had medium weight and build, gray eyes and gray hair. His next of kin was his wife, Annie Ellis Bridgham.

In 1920, Ernest Bridgham rented his home at 116 Round St. in New Bedford, where he was a house painter. Living with him were his wife, Annie, and daughter, Dorothy.
