Biography

Elizabeth L. Bridgham was born on April 18, 1827, in Cherryfield, Maine.

She married Alvin Bridgham Wiley about September, 1848 in Washington County, Maine. Alvin is the son of Charles and Hannah (Guptill) Willey (both born in Maine), brother of Andrew Willey, who married Sarah W. Bridgham.

Alvin lived in Cherryfield his whole life. At one point he was a mill supervisor.

They lived in Cherryfield in 1850 where Alvin was a farmer. Their household included their daughter Francelia. His real estate was valued at $2000.

In 1860, Alvin and Betsey Willey lived in Cherryfield with children Francelia and Arno W., where Alvin was a lumberman. His real estate was valued at $500, and his personal estate at $50.

In 1870, they continued to live in Cherryfield with their two children. He was still a lumberman His real estate was now valued at $1500 and his personal estate at $600.

Still living in Cherryfield in 1880, Alvin was a laborer, living with his wife and his son Arno W., also a laborer.

Elizabeth (Bridgham) Willey died on October 7, 1899, at the age of 72.

Alvin still lived in Cherryfield in 1900, where he was a millwright. Living with him were his son, Arno W, now a painter, his wife Florence C., their two daughters, Bessie M. and Emily B. Willy, and his sister-in-law Grace T. Bridgham.

Alvin died on December 19, 1908, in Cherryfield at the age of 83.
