Biography

John Brien was born in Hillsboro, North Carolina to William Bryan and Jane Clarke (birth year of 1765 is assuming that John was about 20 when his son Elisha was born in 1785, which is also an assumption - based on Elisha's marriage in 1806).[1]
John's son Elisha was in Virginia[2] around 1785.
Three of John Bryan's children moved to Tennessee: Elisha, David, and William. His other two children (the only two of the five cited as known in Notable Southern Families) were "Cynthia Bryan who lived in Hillsboro, Orange County, North Carolina, and John Bryan."[3]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with John by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share DNA with John:

another Bryan family has this pension application. It's interesting to me that it was filed in North Carolina in 1820 & gives the age of John Bryan as 58 (b 1762).
