John Brien was born in Hillsboro, North Carolina to William Bryan and Jane Clarke (birth year of 1765 is assuming that John was about 20 when his son Elisha was born in 1785, which is also an assumption - based on Elisha's marriage in 1806).
Three of John Bryan's children moved to Tennessee: Elisha, David, and William. His other two children (the only two of the five cited as known in Notable Southern Families) were "Cynthia Bryan who lived in Hillsboro, Orange County, North Carolina, and John Bryan."
