The book "Tuttle - Tuthill Lines in America" referenced Mary on page 279, where it said, "James Tuthill c1717 Brookhaven, L[ong] I[sland] s[on] Ja[me]s c1692; d 1746 New Windsor, New York, res[idence] s[ame] l[ocation], will na[mes] wife & 5 ch[ildren]; m c1737 Brookhaven, Mary da[ughter of] Tho[ma]s & Ann Briggs of s[ame] l[ocation] L[otta]T[uthill]V[ail] 1 Jemina c1738 2 Mary c1740 3 Joel c1741 4 Tho[ma]s ?c1742 5 Ja[me]s 1744."[1] Those unfamiliar abbreviations are found on pages 720 thru 716 as what they mean.
The book "Tuttle - Tuthill Lines in America" by Alva M. Tuttle (1968) suggests that Mary Briggs is not the daughter of Thomas and Mary (Allen) Briggs of Dartmouth, Bristol, Massachusetts Bay, but the author of Tuttle - Tuthill Line in America does not provide the source for the proof of her parentage.
The author said that Mary Briggs was the daughter of Thomas and Ann Briggs of the same location and referred it to New Windsor, New York, so Thomas and Ann Briggs of New Windsor, New York are not identical to Thomas and Mary (Allen) Briggs of Dartmouth, Massachusetts.
James Tuthill identified his wife as Mary Tuthill in his will in New Windsor, New York.
