His will is dated 28 September 1727 and proved on 16 March 1727/28 in Plymouth. He mentions his wife Ruth, and his children, Cornelius (eldest son), Silas, John, Keziah, Sarah, and Elizabeth, and his father, Samuel Briggs, his brother Samuel Briggs of Rochester, his kinswoman Ruth Barrow "who now lives with her grandmother Briggs", his brother in law Samuel Barrow of Middleboro.
His inventory was taken on 30 April 1728 in Rochester.[1] It shows that John Briggs held native children in captivity listing the "time by indenture of an Indian boy + Indian girl" valued at £30 pounds.[2]
