It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Daniel by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
Y-chromosome DNA test-takers in his direct paternal line on WikiTree:
I've seen many people on Ancestry show Daniel's middle name as Ingersoll and also given that as a maiden name to his mother Barbra back on Block Island but I have yet to see any source which proves that name.
At the end of the day I've always thought Daneiel correct as you have him based on both a preponderance of the evidence in VR's as well as the geographical proximity in and around Stamford. Much of the family moved down from Block Island to Stamford and vicinity and ultimately down to Westchester (Armonk, Mile Square) and New York City.
Sampson references an un-named "History of Stamford" as being the source for Daniel "lived in both Greenwich and Stanwich, He owned land in Stamford in 1707"
In Samuel Briggs, The Briggs Family 1880 shows on page 178 details from a correspondence with Charles A. Briggs, This is the family group that comes from Daniel and leads to me. It mostly agrees with Sampson and also has everyone congregating around Stamford and Armonk etc. . I am a tad confused as to whether i am missing a generation or if he is. I need to look more closely at this and compare to Sampson's data
Interesting that this Daniel married Hannah Howe and had more children with her. I had seen that that Daniel was a different person, but his will makes it clear that they are his children. Thank you for providing the link. This link provides a bit easier access: https://archive.org/details/abstractofprobat00stam/page/n222/mode/1up
Updated: The will itself appears to have been written in 1774, rather than 1779. I have added a link to the will to his profile
Is there a source that connects this Daniel's birth information with the Daniel who married Elizabeth Newman? How do we know this birthdate and birthplace are correct for the spouse of Elizabeth?
