Biography

Matthew Briggs lived next door to Sarah Louisa Webb.[1] He was born 14 Jun 1836 near Plymouth, Richland, Ohio.[2][3]

They married in 1861.[4]

Matthew and Sarah had five children, according to Sarah's obituary[5]; three sons and two daughters. The children listed in the 1870 census[6] are as follows:

  1. Naoma L. Briggs (would marry C. E. Young), age 18
  2. Chamberlain (would marry Margaret Bell Doak), age 15
  3. William J. Briggs, age 11
  4. Olive M. Brigges, age 6

He died on 2 Oct 1909 in Delphos, Allen, Ohio. The informant for preparation of his death certificate was his daughter, Mrs. C. E. Young (Naoma).[3]
