Biography

Birth 1803 Thixendale : Baptism Wharram Percy

John Brigham was born and/or lived as an infant in Thixendale but his baptism was recorded in the half-ruined Parish Church in Wharram Percy, miles away at the other end of the Wold parish, where the village had almost disappeared. Although Thixendale is and was quite a small village it is the largest centre of population in the large wolds parish of Wharram Percy. [1] This John Brigham is the son of Thomas Brigham

Marriage 1840 Driffield

John Brigham married his second wife, Elizabeth Dobson in Driffield, her birthplace. [2]

Occupation: Butcher 1841, Auctioneer 1861 & Registrar of Births & Deaths in Driffield.

Auctioneer 1851 Driffield

In 1851 John Brigham 47 from Wharram Percy has moved to Driffield where he is Auctioneer & Registrar of Births, Marriages & Deaths. He and his second wife, Elizabeth Dobson, have two sons at school and a servant from Skipsea Btough. [3]

Disambiguation

This is the second John Brigham to marry into the Acklam family: Ann's husband. Apart from John Brigham of Bishop Burton (Elizabeth ACKLAM's husband) there is a third contemporary John in Malton. and perhaps a fourth also a close relation in Thwing where a Mary Brigham is baptised by John ca 1816

1841 @@ There is a WILLIAM Brigham & Ann with children Henry & Christopher active in North Frodingham at much the same time as John & Ann ""1841"" there is also a John Brigham in @@ New Ellerby 1225 9 but he is probably NOT either of these two John BRIGHAMS who marry an Acklam,

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with John by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with John:

Brigham-760 and Brigham-538 do not represent the same person because: The profile of John Brigham who marries Eliza Goodrich is very short of detail in events or sources, but he seems to be based in the USA.
John Brigham on the other hand has detailed sources for events in East Yorkshire, England including his birth, and marriage to two wives which are in compatible with the marriage and early death of the other John.
