John Brigham was born in Holme on Spalding Moor, Yorkshire, England, about 1573. He was christened on 21 May 1573/1576, in Holme on Spaulding Moor, Yorkshire, England. He resided in his native parish, and later in the adjoining parish of Hotham, from whence he died in 1621. John was the son of Thomas Brigham and Gillian (Twelison) Brigham.
Marriage
John married Constance Watson on 30 Sep 1599. Constance was baptized on 17 Aug 1578, and was the daughter of James Watson, and sister to Isabel Watson, the wife of John's brother, Thomas Brigham; she is mentioned in the wills of her father, James Watson, dated 10 Jul 1615; her sister, Isabel Brigham, dated 8 Jun 1634; and her brother-in-law, Robert Brigham, dated 5 Sep1640. Henry and three other children (unnamed) were given legacies in the will of his great granduncle Henry Brigham of Seaton, dated 30 June 1606, previously given. (P.and E.York wills, volume 30, folio 165) on 11 May, 1621, administration on the estate of John Brigham of Hotham deceased, was granted to his widow, Constance Brigham. (adm. Act books, P. And E.
