Biography

William Thomas Bright was born on 19 May 1884 in Taylor County, Kentucky, USA.

William married Cora Ethel Mardis (1889 - 1959) on 29 Aug 1909. Their children were:

  1. Linus Alvin Bright (1911 - 1991)
  2. Lilly Irene Bright (1912 - 1999)
  3. Howard Bright (1919 - 1988).

William died on 22 Sep 1966 in Taylor County aged 82.

Mr. Will Bright, a retired farmer of the Pleasant Hill Community in Taylor County, Rt. 3, Campbellsville, died at his home at 4:45 p.m Thursday, September 22 after a two weeks illness. He was 82, being born in this county, May 19, 1884. He was the son of the late Lucinda Brockman and Bud Bright. He had been a professing Christian since early in life and a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. August 25, 1909 he was married to Miss Cora Ethel Mardis. She preceded him in death August 2, 1959.

To this union six sons and five daughters were born. Surviving are Linus, Davis, and Howard Bright, all of Route 3, Campbellsville; Miss Margaret Bright, at home; Mrs. Dennis Colvin and Mrs. Arthur Goff, both of Rt. 3, Campbellsville; Mrs. Irene Mardis, Bloomington, Ill. Besides his children, he is also survived by twenty-nine grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; one brother and three sisters, Vick Bright, Rt. 2; Mrs. Lee Tucker of Indiana; Mrs. Nan Linley, Alabama; and Mrs. Emma Brockman of Iowa. Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church by Rev. Joe Hampton. Burial was in Brookside. Pallbearers were James England, Buck Short, Bob Deener, James Smith, Tom Hudson, and Junior Crawley.
