Calvin Coolidge Bright, 77, a resident of Hendricks, departed this life Wednesday afternoon, April 15 at the Davis Memorial Hospital at Elkins.
He was born Saturday, Feb. 27, 1932 at Dry Fork, Elk, a son of the late Martin Vanburen Bonner and Rosa Bell Bright.
Surviving are three sons Clifton Riley Summerfield and wife Rebecca of Mich., Charles Lough and wife Cathy of Baltimore, Md. and Patrick Leslie Bright and wife Joni of Va.; one daughter Rose Marie Haga of Baltimore, Md.; one brother Van Davis and wife Phyllis of Elk, Dry Fork; four sisters Halena Deitz of Meadow Bridge, Londa Bowman of Cresaptown, Md., Eva Moore of Cumberland, Md. and Ellen Zukas and husband Bob of Baltimore, Md.; companion and caregiver Teresa Mallow; ten grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death are four brothers Howard Davis, Herbert Davis, Nathan Bright and Ben Bright; two sisters Virginia ‘Betty’ Shipp and Genevieve Pencoski; and several half-brothers and sisters.
He attended the schools of Tucker County.
He was a Veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean Conflict.
He was a former employee of Bethlehem Steel at Sparrows Point, Md.
He loved the outdoors, doing his yard work and visiting with his many friends at the restaurant.
The family received friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home on Saturday, April 18 from 5 to 8 p.m.
Final rites were conducted at the funeral home parlor on Sunday, April 19 at 1 p.m.
The Rev. Matthew Bright officiated and interment followed at the High Ridge Cemetery at Elk, Dry Fork, where the H.W. Daniels Post #29 American Legion, the Tygart Valley Post #3647 Veterans of Foreign War and the Tucker County Veterans Association conducted full military rites.
The Lohr & Barb Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements for Calvin Coolidge Bright.
