Biography

Eliza Bright was born on 12 January 1867 at Ballymore,County Armagh Ireland. She was the daughter of Hugh Bright and Mary Jane Hart. ^[1]

It's unusual that Eliza was born on 12 January 1867, and that Mary Jane Bright, known as "Minnie", gave her date of birth as 7 January 1867, at the time of her marriage to William Hammond in 1893, in Pennsylvania, USA. ^[2]

It also seems unusual that the couple had a daughter named Eliza in 1867, and when another daughter was born at Ballymore in 1871, to Mary Jane and Hugh Bright, she was named Elizabeth. ^[3]

Perhaps Eliza Bright was a twin, or named Eliza at birth, and renamed by the family as Mary Jane (Minnie) Bright. A record of the birth of a Mary Jane Bright or Minnie Bright, wasn't found in the Irish Civil Registration Birth records. ^[4]
