Welcome to the Czech Roots Project! I am the coordinator for this project, if you have any particular questions let me know.

Do you have any leads where in Bohemia your ancestors are from?

Unfortunately, no. I have records that state my mother's Grandmother was born in Boehima, Czech., around 1873. Her father was Joseph Haba and his wife was Josephine Possipil (Sp). I believe they first settle in South Dakota but the census is very difficult to read. My Great Grandma's name was Ann M Haba. You can find them in Saunders Co., NB. There has been a big go around with family whether Anna was Citizen born or Czech born. No one at this time has found actual immigration documents. But I know Great Grandma who married into the LaPrath family (German born family) filed for Naturalization paper in Seattle Washington.

Hi again Claudia, new WikiTree member,

Please help us build one Collaborative Global Family Tree, with only one profile per person. It's important that no duplicates are created and profiles are properly sourced- if you have pre-1700's ancestors please read our Pre-1700 profiles.

Drop into our friendly Genealogist to Genealogist (G2G) forum to introduce yourself - you can access the G2G by selecting G2G Profile from your My WikiTree menu at the top right of most pages.

WikiTree may be overwhelming at first, so don't hesitate to ask questions in the G2G or seek assistance from a Mentor.

Maryann

Hi again

I see you have a DNA badge too. Did you know we have a WikiTree project for DNA where a lot of great new things are happening? You will find it and WikiTree's other interesting projects by using the FIND link top right of most WikiTree pages, select PROJECTS from the drop down box. WikiTree's DNA project has information listed that might be of interest to you, and feel free to contact any of the members if you would like additional details.

You might also like to read the discussions tagged with DNA in the G2G forum.

Happy WikiTreeing

Hi Claudia

I see a new GEDCOM badge. Here's a link to a great step-by-step of the process including screenshots that you might find helpful.

Help pages give lots of info about the process, best to start with 'Before you import a GEDCOM'.

Please read the instructions for reviewing your GEDMatch Report if you want to import it into WikiTree.

Maryann

Claudia, I'm glad you're enjoying life! If you are just looking, you don't need to volunteer. You will find the People Search under the FIND menu at the upper right of this page. You can also ask questions in the G2G forum.

If you meant to volunteer to help grow this wonderful, collaborative tree, please leave a note to that effect. We would love to have you! One of our volunteers will be happy to make you a full member if you post again.
