Biography

Amos was born about 1850 in Minudie, Cumberland County, Nova Scotia (information taken from marriage record). He married Marguerite LeBlanc on Nov 28, 1876 at Minudie RC.[1]

He passed away in 1904.[2][3]

His parents are named as ‘Dominique et Marguerite’, Dominique is a farmer. Amos married Marguerite LeBlanc (his mother had also been named ‘Marguerite LeBlanc’) on Nov 28, 1876 at Minudie. Marguerite gives her age as (21), she is a spinster, residence Joggins Mines, parents Damase et Pélagie, Damase is a farmer. Witnesses to the marriage were C.J. Arsenault et Mary V. LeBlanc, and the couple were married by Rev. T.M. Gay. The registrar who recorded the information was clearly literate in both languages, spelling the Acadian names ‘Brun’ and ‘LeBlanc’, also spelling ‘Dominique’, ‘Damase’, and ‘Pélagie’ correctly. There were two other marriages performed by Rev Gay at Minudie that day, viz. Line 166, Eustache Brun (a widower, age 40, fils de ‘Peter and Mary’) m. Emily Babin (spinster, 22, fille de ‘Moses & Rosalie’), and Line 167, Fidèle LeBlanc, (bachelor, 25, b. Memramcook, fils de ‘Sylvain & Ann’), m. Mary Bourque, (spinster, 22, fille de ‘Pascal & Marguerite’)).
