Biography

"John Hill Brinton, son of George and Christiana (Hill) Brinton, was born August 18, 1772, in Thornbury, and died May 7, 1827. He married, April 30, 1795, Sarah Steinmetz, of German descent. She was the daughter of John and Catharine (Keppele) Stinemetz, and a graddaughter of John Henry Keppele, born 1716 in Heilbroon, Wurtemberg."[1]

"John Hill Brinton studied law in Philadelphia with John Dickinson Sergeant. He was admitted to the bar in 1793. Afterwards, when he retired from the law, he dealth largely in real estate, his activities being scattered in the West, in New York, and in Lehigh after its coal products attracted attention. He died at his home on Arch Street, Philadelphia, where the theatre later stood."[2]
