George Brion is a DAR Patriot Ancestor, A016233.

Always known as George.

Baptised 24 Apr 1756 in Moselem Lutheran Church (Zion Lutheran), Richmond Twp., Berks Co. Sponsors were Geo. Kamp & Wife Anna Maria

George's father Jacob died in 1758 and it is presumed that George was rased by his mother and step-father, Melchior Fritz.

Geroge enlisted in the Continental Army on 5 May 1776. In Col. Miles rifle Regiment (13th Pennsylvania Regiment) he served in Captain Lewis' Company at the battle of Long Island and was likely present at Trenton and to have crossed the Deleware with Washington. On June 16, 1780, he enlisted as a private in Captain Richstein's Pennsylvania Volunteers. Both his brothers Daniel Brion and Melchior Fritz Jr. also served in the Continental army marking his family as very strong supporters of the revolution.

After the war, he married [Elizabeth Heinly and they remained in Windsor Twp, where their first children were born. In 1792 George received a warrant for 100 acres of land and the family moved to Northumberland County to clear the land and take up residence. George is listed as Tailor on the Penn Twp tax records. He died on the 10th of October 1801. Elizabeth remained on the farm raising her children at least until 1810.
