Note: The "Brisco" family files of Herbert Clarence Burleigh contain notes, biographical information and cemetery records for Isaac & his family. In one military record, "Isaac Brisco of Connecticut" measures 5 feet 8 inches and has served 1 year 4 months in Captain William Fraser's Company.[1]

From the State Papers of Vermont, edited by Mary Green Nye (1941), Vol. VI, Sequestration, Confiscation and Sale of Estates, p.38:[2]

  • "An Act to prevent the return to this state of certain persons ...who have left ... and joined the enemy." List includes Isaac Brisco, Sam Rose, Joseph Lockwood of Manchester, David Castle and Reuben Hawley of Paulet, David Shorey,[3] Robert Perry of Rutland, Dan Hill Jr. and Timothy Hill, Justus Sherwood, N. Haven. If these or any others return they must go before a J.P., be whipped on the naked back, not more than forty, nor less than twenty stripes punishment inflicted and ordered to quit the state immediately. Further if such a person should continue to stay one month or return again after such conviction he shall be convicted before the Supreme Court of State and put to Death. If any person should harbour or conceal, he must pay 500 pounds, 2/3 to State, 1/3 to the prosecutor." (dated 26 Feb 1779, repeated 8 Nov 1780)

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Isaac by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Isaac:
