From 1887-1890, E.H. worked as a Machinist at Cross and Spears; from 1890-1893 as a Toolmaker, then Production Manager at The Bristol Company (where his father Benjamin was President at the time); from 1893-1907 as Vice President and Director of the Bristol Company; from 1907 was President of The Foxboro Company, President of The Service Company (Foxboro), Vice President of the Bristol Company (Waterbury, CN); Director of the Foxboro National Bank; Director of the First National Bank of Mansfield; Founder and Chairman, of Partners in Living; Founder of People's Fair Tax League, Founder of Highland's Health Center in Falmouth, MA; Director of the United Cape Cod Cranberry Company; Trustee of Bradford Junior College, and Author of "Taxation and Sound Money". He was a member of the Congregational Church.
In 1908, EH and his brother Benett founded the Industrial Instrument Company which in 1914 was re-branded as the Foxboro Company.
