On double marker with Emily D. Bristow (1858-1943) Son of Joshua T. Bristow & Mary Kavanaugh. From: THE DUBLIN PROGRESS (newspaper) Friday Apr. 14, 1939-- "Funeral services were conducted Monday PM for Mr. S.H. Bristow, who passed away last Sunday afternoon suffering from a heart attack. Mr. Bristow who is a resident of the Purves community had been with his wife at a Shiloh singing convention and was driving to his home in Purves when he suffered the attack. His automobile ran into a ditch and finally came to a stop when it hit a fence. Mrs. Bristow climbed out of the car and walked 1/2 mile along the road before she secured help. Mr. Bristow was born in Missouri and was 79 yrs 11 mo & 9 days of age at the time of his death. He was married in Texas to Miss Emily Beshears of Arkansas and came to Erath Co. in 1901 having been a resident of this community for over 38 years. He was a member of the Baptist Church in Alexander and had served as deacon for the past 4 years. Children who survive him are JT Bristow of Belton; Henry Bristow of Coleman; Mrs. G. Leverett, Ralls; W.H. Bristow, Dallas; Oscar Bristow, Ft.Worth; Mrs. Alonzo Trice, Dublin; Mrs. Claude Johnson, Dublin. Four other children preceded him in death. He had 30 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren. All present except for 2. Funeral was held at Purves Church by Rev. R.H. Gibson, grandsons were pallbearers and granddaughters and gr. granddaughters were flower girls."
