Amos Britt was born on August 10, 1840, in Robeson, North Carolina, United States, son of Everett Britt (1810–1868) and Susan Brumble (1818–1880).

Amos served in Co. D, 18th Regiment, North Carolina Infantry during the Civil War. He was wounded at the battle of Hanover in May 1862.

Amos died on May 28, 1905, in Longbranch, Robeson, aged 64.

He is buried in Long Branch Baptish Church Cemetery, Robeson County, North Carolina.
