Biography

John Britton was born in 1761 in Hunterdon County, New Jersey, a son of Nathaniel Brittain and Thisbe Anderson. On June 2, 1781, he married Hannah Opdyck (1760-1821) and they had several children including Nathaniel Britton (1781-1867). After the death of Hannah’s father, Joshua Opdycke, they lived in the old stone house Joshua built when he and his brother Richard settled the region. Their sons operated the store Richard had kept in the other stone house. John died December 27, 1822 and was buried near Hannah at Baptistown Cemetery, Baptistown, Hunterdon County, New Jersey.

I was working on the Opdycke family, I found a profile Brittain-1949 claiming that Eury Britton was the daughter of John Britton and Hannah Opdycke, I have received an email stating that Eury Britton was the daughter of William Britton and Elizabeth Sine. I will leave to others the final say. I am going to remove her from the profile I edited
