Research Notes

Birth could be estimated from being witness to a land transaction in 1793 and thus at least 21 or is that his father, William? Instead, birth is estimated from marriage in 1797.

On January 14, 1793, John Ashworth sold George James sixty acres of land in Charlotte County for thirty pounds current money of Virginia. Witnesses included Langston Bacon, Bibby Broocks, and W. Brezendine.[1] Roberts-9749 01:43, 15 July 2019 (UTC)

On April 4, 1795, John Ashworth purchased 8 acres of land along a branch of Sandy Creek from Henry Hughes for sixteen dollars current money of Virginia. Witnesses included Joel Ashworth, Wm Brezendine, and Bitty Broocks.[2] Roberts-9749 01:54, 15 July 2019 (UTC)

On October 24, 1803, William and Milly Brizendine sold Henry Roberts 112 acres near Sandy Creek for the sum of "eighty pounds current money of Virginia." Names mentioned in boundaries include Brizendine and Ashworth. Witnessed by William Crenshaw, Mark Hamblin, Mary Hamblin, and Langston Bacon.[3]
