Simeon Broadwell served with Morris County Militia, New Jersey Militia during the American Revolution.
Simeon, sometimes spelled Semion, was born after 1753. He was a private in the Capt. Lindley's Company of the New Jersey militia during the Revolutionary War - enrolled May 1778 in Capt. Lindley's company.
He moved to Dayton, Ohio in 1815, and passed away in Montgomery County, in Apr 1827.
Several Broadwells moved to Ohio late 1700s and early 1800s, some perhaps for land grants in exchange for their service in the Revolutionary War.
Research Notes
Simeon is likely buried in a Presbyterian cemetery that has since been abandoned, but his body was not moved.[1] Another source says he died in Butler County, Ohio. The National Archives list his military tombstone as being shipped to an address in Dayton (Montgomery County), Ohio. Cemetery is Woodland.[2] The current Woodland cemetery was only established in 1841. There are Broadwells buried there, but online search doesn't show anyone before 1841. FindAGrave has a picture of his tombstone.[3]
Simeon is apparently not in the list of patriots used to prove DAR membership, but is for the SAR. However, that information has been put behind a paywall.
