Biography

Emily did not come to New Zealand in 1847 on the John Wickliffe. Before she married Julius he came to NZ in 1847/8 to acquire land in a ballot for his uncle. Having secured land in Otago and built a house in Dunedin he returned to England to marry Emily and return with her to NZ where they prospered as sheep farmers.

Emily came to NZ with her husband and infant son (Stanley) on the Stornoway. They departed London on 28 Nov 1865 and arrived at Port Chalmers on 2 Apr 1866.
