Biography

Smith Brock was born in 1807. He was the son of Jonathan Brock and Hannah Smith. He married Abigail Norton about 1831 in New York State. They had at least these children: John C Brock (1833- ?), Isaac Norton Brock (1835-1906), Sarah Brock (1837- ? ), Jacob Smith Brock (1839-1920), James T. Brock (1842-1914), Mary Abigail (Brock) Sherman (1844-1909), and Juliett Brock (1847- ? ).

The family moved westward, traveling in Indiana, Illinois, and Wisconsin before settling in Iowa. It is not known where or when Smith died. Abigail probably died in Iowa as she was last found in 1880 at age 69, widowed, living with her son James.
