Margaret Maryanne Brodie was born at Wangrah near Cooma, New South Wales on 29 MAR 1849.

She married Richard John Thurbon at Nimmitabel, New South Wales, on 06 JUN 1871.[1] Their children included: Edna Margaret Mary, Minna, Ethel Mary, Walter Russell, Boyd John Thurbon, Edwin Ernest, Ethel Mable, Clara, Stella Catherine King, Ada, Alberta AK, Alberta Adela Katherine.

DEATH OF MRS. THURBON.[2]

Mrs Margaret Thurbon, of Whinstone Valley, died at her residence on Friday last at the age of 73 years, after an illness of about 18 months. The deceased lady who is an old resident of the district, proceeded to Sydney where she underwent an operation, which was successful, although the medical opinion as to her complete recovery was not favourable owing to her advanced years. The funeral took place on Sunday at Jerangle, in the presence of a large assemblage, a number of floral tributes being placed on the coffin. The late Mrs. Thurbon, who is a native of Dry Plain, was a daughter of Mr John Brodie, and was married to Mr Richard Thurbon (who died about 12 months since) at Cooma 51 years ago, and has since resided at Whinstone Valley. She was widely known and highly respected, and devoted to her family, and an ardent supporter of her church. The Rev. H. S. Brown conducted a short service at the Church of England at Jerangle, and at the graveside spoke of the deceased's admirable qualities and kindly nature. The deceased lady is survived by her brothers Messrs William Brodie, of Bega ; David Brodie, of Bredbo ; and Thomas Brodie, of Mitchell, Queensland ; and sisters, Mrs George Davidson, of Cooma ; and Mrs Thomas Thurbon, of Jerangle ; her daughters being Mrs Duncan, Coraki ; Mrs Hartman, Boggabri ; Mrs Stockman, Rose Bay ; Mrs Russ, Anembo ; the Misses Adella and Edna Thurbon ; and sons, Messrs. Russell, Boyd, and Edwin Thurbon. Deceased leaves 21 grandchildren. Mr J. F. Allen had charge of the funeral arrangements.
