Greener a coal miner aged 33 and wife Ellen aged 27 arrived 10 Mar 1878 from Northumberland on the 'NORTHBROOK'. With them was daughter Hannah 4 and son aged 2 who died on voyage to Australia, he may have had a birthday on board as headstone says 3 years with death date 23 Mar 1878 [same as father and uncle].
BRODIE: Greener BRODIE aged 33 and wife Ellen aged 27 arrived in the colony 10 Mar 1878 on the ‘NORTHBROOK’ with daughter Hannah aged 4 and their son William aged 2 died on the voyage to Australia, on the headstone his death is given as 23 Mar 1878 aged 3 years. Greener was born 1844 Crofton West Yorkshire, died 23 Mar 1887 Bulli in a gas explosion in the mine also killed was his brother William, altogether 21 men died. Ellen was born 6 Jan 1851 Seghill Northumberland, baptised 27 Jan 1851 Blythe & Seaton Delaval Wesleyan Methodist. She died 17 Mar 1914 Bulli parents William & Elizabeth. Greener BRODIE and Ellen SMITH married 1874 at Morpeth Northumberland. After Greener death in 1891 Ellen married John Barnes NICHOLSON in Sydney born 1840 and died 1919 aged 79 years buried at Bulli.
