Born 16.06.1789, 1 Queen’s Street and, died unm 1874. Author of A Scotch Antique, her memoirs. This book gives a delightful look at life in Edinburgh from the times of George III and right through to Victoria. Jessie kept a boarding house for young gentlemen, one of whom helped to publish her memoirs (His initials are W.R.). She attended the Gathering as a young woman as a grand occasion in her life. I gave a transcript of the first half of this book to an historian, who feels that it will be invaluable to build a better picture of life and times of that period, Edinburgh changed a lot.
