Robert Brodie is a member of Clan Brodie.

Descendant of John Brodie and Jean Reid.

Robert was born in 1891. He was the son of David Brodie and Martha Patton.

He passed away in 1927.

OBITUARY.

Mr Robert John Brodie. Quite a gloom was cast over the community on Thursday morning last when the sad news was received that Mr Robert John Brodie, a well-known resident of the district, had passed away in Invercargill Hospital after a very short illness. He was employed by the Lake County Council at Kingston, and although he had been unwell for a few days prior to his removal to Invercargill Hospital on Wednesday, his condition was not considered to be serious. Shortly after his admission to the Hospital, however, blood poisoning set in, and he passed away at an early hour on Thursday morning. Deceased was the only son of the late Mr and Mrs David Brodie, of Crown Terrace, where be was born in 1892. On the death of bis father in 1924 be carried on the farm at Crown Terrace until a few months ago when he disposed of the property to Mr David Mackie. He took a keen interest in the affairs of Lake County A and P Society, and had been a member of the executive and a class steward for many years. He was also a prominent Freemason, and at the time of his death be occupied the position of Worshipful Master of Lodge Arrow Kilwinning. Possessed of a quiet and retiring disposition, combined with a genial personality, the late Mr Brodie was well liked and highly respected by all who knew him, and the news of his death would be received with regret by a large circle of friends. He leaves two sisters (Mrs R G Fowler, and Miss Rebe Brodie, of Crown Terrace), to mourn tbeir loss.^[1]
