When Frank Colvin Brodie was born on October 17, 1875, in Darnsmatel, Scotland, his father, William, was 35 and his mother, Margaret, was 20. He had three sons and two daughters with Eleanor Elizabeth Alice Thomson between 1902 and 1920. He died on June 20, 1944, in Santa Rosa, California, at the age of 68.
I have yet to find documentation to show when they arrived in Canada, or where they were married. Nor could I find why they came to the Americas. It is most likely that they came into Canada by themselves at different times. As their first son, Frank Jr., was born in September 1902 in Canada It is safe to think that they married December 1901/January 1902.
The documentation of their story starts with the 1906 Canada Census of Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta, and ends with the California, Death Index, 1940-1997.
From the paper trail they left Canada after 1921 and were in California by 1930. While they were in Canada it appears that they moved around between 1907 and 1913. I do not know what was going on. I assume it was because he is listed as being employed as a sign maker/advertiser, he had to travel to the job if he wanted to work.
