Trevor Verdun John Brogan was born on 26th March 1916 at Manly, New South Wales, Australia. He was the third son of Bernard Brogan and Hilda Marcelle Richards.[1]
Trevor achieved a Diploma in Commerce in 1940 from the University of Sydney.[2]
He married Maria Beth Mehan in 1942 at Manly, New South Wales.[3] They were divorced in 1959.[4]
Trevor was a member of the militia. On 29th August 1942, he transferred to the Second Australian Imperial Force for service overseas during the Second World War[5] and was allocated to the 2nd Australian Field Survey Company.[6] Troops from the 2nd Field Survey Company, based in Queensland, proceeded to Merauke in Dutch New Guinea, to New Britain, and to Lae and Wewak on the north coast of Papua and New Guinea (then two separate Australian territories). The section on Bougainville managed to produce 63 of the 106 coloured sheets that eventually covered the island.[7] Trevor attained the distinguished rank of Warrant Officer Class One (RSM). With the war over, he was discharged on 1st November 1945.
Trevor married a second time, to Jean Quinlan in 1963 at Chatswood, New South Wales.[8]
