When Caspares Brokaw was born on October 9, 1752, in Franklin, Sussex, New Jersey, his father, Isaac, was 28 and his mother, Antie, was 25. He had one brother and four sisters.

In 1776 Caspares (Jasper) Brokaw served as Ensign with Captains Probasco, Fulderson, Van Neste, and McCoy, under Colonel Van Dike, for the State of New Jersey, during the American Revolution. NSSAR # P-121637. [1] He obtained a pension for his service - Pension Number: S*W23663. [2]
