According to the article on Potgieter in Dictionary of South African Biography vol 1 p641 (of the English edition), she did exist, was a widow Van der Merwe, and died in childbirth as claimed. Married at Buffelshoek, married in 1840 and died on 7May 1841 are all wrong (the last is the date of death of Botha-81).

I see at least two people are currently working on Potgieter's alleged fourth wife Le_Grange-111, and am quite curious to see what will happen there. Her DN makes no mention of a marriage to Potgieter, and the cited article says the fourth wife "died shortly after their wedding, and he soon followed her".

Dit this person (as spouse of AH Potgieter) really exist? If he was married to Botha-81 12 Jul 1812 (to 7 May 1841) in Graaf-Reinet, he could not have at the same time been married to her in 1840 in Buffelshoek. Unless they were in a relationship and not married. The only other source I could find in a very superficial quick search on internet, was on Geni: geni.com > Hoof-Kmdt Andries Hendrik Potgieter, b7c8d7e2.
