Biography

"Mercy, b. Dec. 26, 1715, m. Thomas Bennet, of Newtown, Nov. I8, 1736, and had two daughters, Rhoda and Ann; Rhoda m. Rev. Noah Benedict , of Woodbury, and became mother of the Hon. Noah B. Benedict, of Gen. Thomas B. Benedict, and Ruth, who m. Hon. Nathaniel Smith; Ann, the other daughter of Thomas Bennet, m. Lieut. William French, of Southbury, and had nine children, among whom was Sylvania, the wife of Gen. E. Hinman, and mother of the Hon. R. R. Hinman, the distinguished antiquarian."[1]
