Biography

George was born mostly likely was born 6 October 1839. He was born in Sherburne, Chenango, New York, the youngest child of Erastus and Mercy Howard.[1][2]

In 1850, at the age of 14, he is still living with his parents in Sherburne, Chenango, New York. His older sister, Diane Mahala is still living with the family. All of his other siblings have moved out and established their own households. Miles is attending school. His family is also living next door to his Uncle Orrin Bronson. [3] Living close-by is his Uncle Hiram Sylvester Bronson. One of Hiram's children is named George Myrtelo Bronson.[4] Throughout his life George Miles is often simply called Miles. This maybe the reason.

In 1855, George Miles is the only child left in the household. His is working on the farm with his father. His cousin Ulysses David Bronson has moved in next door. [5]

George Miles continues working as a laborer on his father's farm in 1860. A 15 year old Irish immigrant, Ann Numan, is also living with the family.[6] The census doesn't say, but she may have been hired to help George's mother with the household duties.

By 1865, George Miles has married Marion Lamb and has son, Fredrick Herman. George's young family is living with his parents and he is working the farm.[7][8][9]

George is working the farm valued at $4000 in 1870. His wife Marion is keeping house. Fredrick has entered school. Joining the family is his mother-in-law Mary H Lamb and a domestic servant, Olive Jaquay.[10]

George and his wife has a little girl in 1871, Lenora. He continues to live on the farm that he owns.[11]

In 1880 George is still working the same farm. His son and daughter are both attending school. His wife is keeping house.[12]

George continues to work the farm until his death on 7 April 1892 from Valvular Disease of the Heart. His is buried in the Bronson family plot in the Poolville Cemetery, Poolville, Madison, New York.[13][14]
