Townsend Brooke was baptised on 8 September, 1580, at All Saints' church, Runcorn, Cheshire, England.[2]
She was the eldest daughter of Thomas Brooke of Norton, Cheshire, esq, and his second wife, Elizabeth Marbury.[1] Elizabeth was the daughter of William Marbury of Marbury, Cheshire, esq.[1]
The marriage of Thomas Leigh, gent, son and heir of George Leigh, esquire, and Townsende Brook,[1] daughter of Mr Brook, was recorded in the parish register of St Mary's Church, Rostherne, Cheshire, on 6 December, 1596.[3] Thomas was the son and heir apparent of George Leigh of High Leigh, of the East Hall, esq,[1] and his wife, Elizabeth Leycester.
Townesend's mother died in 1604.[1]
Townsend and Thomas were the parents of Legh Henry Legh b. 23 Nov 1611, d. Feb 1665.
In the index of FamilySearch's "Cheshire Parish Registers, 1538-2000" Townesend was transcribed erroneously as a male.[2]
