William Audry "Bill" Brooker, 71 (b. 10 Sep 1926), of Nahunta, died Sunday afternoon (1 Feb 1998) at Southeast Georgia Regional Medical Center in Brunswick following a brief illness.
A native of Brantley County, he was preceded in death by his father, Audry Belmont "A.B." Brooker.
He was a member of the Nahunta First Baptist Church and the Nahunta Masonic Lodge #391 F& A M.
He was the owner and operator of the A.B. Brooker and Son Department Store in Nahunta and was a U.S. Army Veteran.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Willie Austin Brooker of Nahunta; two sons, Pryce Brooker (wife Debra) of Hoboken, and Martin Brooker (wife Linda) of Lilburn; his mother, Sallie Wanell Roberson Brooker of West Palm Beach, FL; a sister, Lorena Sachs of West Palm Beach, FL; five grandchildren, Brett, Scott, Emily, Beth, and Greg Brooker; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, from Nahunta First Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. W. Derrell Rentz and Rev. Carl Milton officiating. Song: "One Day at a Time." Interment with Masonic rites followed at Greenlawn Cemetery near Waycross.
Pallbearers were members of Nahunta Masonic Lodge #391 F & A M.
Chambless Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.[1]
