Biography

Ruby Mae Brooks was born on May 24, 1914, in Royston, Georgia. She married Jasper Kettern Voyles on June 22, 1929, in Anderson, South Carolina.^[1] They had at least four children:

• Blondine Stellae (1930–2007)^[2]
• Belton Armanus (1934–2006)^[3]
• Hugh Edwin (1939–)
• Ron (aft. 1940)

Jasper died in 1972 and Ruby died on October 12, 2006, in Greenville, South Carolina, at the age of 92, and was buried in Travelers Rest, South Carolina.^[4]

Ruby Mae Brooks Voyles, 92, formerly of Marietta, wife of the late Jasper K. Voyles, died Oct. 12, 2006 at Oakmont East Nursing Center.

Born in Royston, GA, she was a daughter of the late Omar and Addlaie Abbott Brooks. She was retired from the J.P. Stevens Slater Plant and was a member of Marietta First Baptist Church.

She is survived by a daughter, Blondine Greer of Marietta; three sons, Belton Voyles of Athens, GA, Hugh Edwin Voyles of Madisonville, TN and Ron Voyles of Travelers Rest; three sisters, Mary Elrod of Hull, GA, Sara Davidson of Royston, GA and Janette McCurry of Ellijay, GA; two brothers, Charles Brooks of Williamston and Benjamin Brooks of Mauldin; and three grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Oct. 14 at The Howze Mortuary chapel. Burial followed in Grand View Memorial Gardens.
