Claude Alexander Brooks was born on August 1, 1900 in Rusk, Texas, United States, son of Joseph Franklin Brooks (1865–1942) and Nannie Nora Hendrix (1875–1955).
Claude married Carrie Belle Rowell (born on April 14, 1902 in Texas; daughter of Jonathan Harrell Rowell and Lillie Belle (Rushton) Rowell). Their children were:
- Cliff Doyle Brooks (1927–2009)
- Essie Laverne Brooks (1933–2011)
Claude died on May 24, 1971 in Henderson, Rusk, aged 70. He was buried in Zion Hill Cemetery, Henderson, Texas.
