Biography

James was born in 1849,[1][2] the second child of ten children to Jesse C Brooks and Eliza Jane Bottoms. His siblings were: Leroy T, Archibald Maxwell, Martha A, Columbus Franklin, Henry H, Frances Lenora Jane, Arthur T, George M, and Young B; his older half-siblings were: Henry Abraham, John Marion, and William Greene.
