Hepsebeth (aka Hepzibah, Hephzibah, Hepzabeth, or Hipsibath) Brooks was born to Timothy and Mary Brooks on February 23, 1673 in Billerica, Middlesex, Massachusetts Bay, British Colonial America. [1] [2] [3] [4]
Notes: The clerks in Mass. used the Julian Calendar up until 1752, which consisted of 12 months however, the beginning of the year was March 25th. Therefore, when a different clerk was called to fill the position, the 1st clerk refused to relinquish the book, but allowed the 2nd clerk to hand copy the information. That is why there are 2 sets of records. The 2nd set has been indexed improperly. The 11th month would be January which follows December, which was the 10th month of the Julian Calendar. To see both dates side by side, and how they are one in the same date, see: [4]
For more information about the Julian and Gregorian Calendars, see: [5]
For the 2nd Clerk's explanation, see: [6]
