Biography

Richard was born about 1695 or 1680 depending on the source. Other sources claim his birth year as 1683 n Essex and also 1674 in Fredericksville. He is the son of Richard Brooks and Mary Gibson. His death is also shown as 1734 on his father's death date in Hanover Co., VA. / [1]

Early Life

Richard Brooks III was born as early as 1675 — 1705 (various date are given in records) in Virginia to Richard Brooks II and his mother was Mary (Lnu). His step mother was Mary Gibson. (this needs to be verified) Gibson was the mother of the balance of Richard II’s children.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Richard by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Richard:

Richard Brooks III could NOT have been born "about 1700" if daughter Mary Caine Brooks was born "about 1699". Needs research to establish a better possible birth date for Richard.

Two of Richards sons, Robert and Elisha, have descendants with matching yDNA. Six come from Robert and two come from Elisha. One from Robert (me) and one from Elisha have tested out to 111 markers with 109 complete matching and the other 2 were off by a single count.
