Betsy Brooks is a part of US Black heritage.

Betsy was one of the named slaves left to minor John Hampden Brooks (1833-1911) in the will of his father Whitfield Butler Brooks Sr. (1790-1851) which was dated November 8, 1851.[1] The final transfer took place on January 6, 1852 in Edgefield County, South Carolina after John became of age.[2]
