Mary Brown Brooks was born in Tewksbury on 2 Mar 1821 the daughter of Joshua Brooks and Mary's mother Lydia Beal. Her birth record has not been located. The identification of her middle name of Brown is from her husband's probate records and may provide a clue to the identity of her father's ancestry which has heretofore remained elusive.
At the time of her death from Bright's disease in Boston at the age of 75 y 9 m 23 d, she was living at 19 Ashmont St. Her death record gives her birthplace as Tewksbury and that is consistent with other records including her mother's petition for divorce and her grandfather's will which mentions his property in Tewksbury where his daughter (Mary's mother) was living.[1]
