CENSUS RECORDS
7 Aug. 1820 Sumter, North Carolina, USA. The household of Spiros Broom consists of 4 free persons and 1 slave. Two are children under 10, one boy and one girl. One male over 25 and two females, one white between 16 and 25 and the other a female slave between 14 and 25.[4]
1830 Sumter, North Carolina, USA. The Spyres Broom household consisted of 6 white persons and 8 slaves. The family unit was 1 male 40-49, 1 female 30-39 and 4 children. The two sons were 5-9 and 10-14. The daughters were under 5 and 10-14. The slaves were 1 female 24-35, 2 females 10-23, and 2 girls and three boys under 10.[5]
