The record of the marriage of William Willmot and Mary Broughton in St Alkmund's Church, Derby, is preserved. ^[1] It states:

Banns of marriage between William Willmot & Mary Broughton both of this parish were published July 23^d, 30^th & August 6^th, 1797. The said William Willmot & Mary Broughton were married in this Church by Banns this Seventh day of Aug^t 1797 by me, Joseph Fern Curate. This Marriage was Solemnised between us, William Willmot and Mary Broughton (her mark) in the presence of us, Thomas Broughton (his mark) and John Marshall.^[2][3][4]
